"Agharti" (Funeral of a Great King)

I breathed in the cthonic aroma of the darkness, scented with the earth and the dust of the dead. Behind us stretched the amber plains of Agharti, the great land beneath the world. Before me the ossuary carried by my brethren contained the hollow shell of a once great king. I took a deep breath to fill the void once filled by the love I felt for that hollowed carcass. Now only grief remained and an intangible sense of my own mortality. For even gods most die when no one remembers them.
This piece marks the beginning of my "Hollow Earth" series. This series will feature the land of Agharti. Agharti was a theory that our planet was hollow and within there was a great world of fantastical creatures and enigmatic cultures.
