The process behind the art was a neat chance to explore a lot of themes in my older work mixing in new elements of my current style. Hannes had a pretty general idea of what he wanted which was a snowy mountain scape framing some sort of esoteric and alien looking object. I referenced a lot of Albert Bierstadt's work particularly "Rocky Mountain Landscape" for the lighting and form. The Giger ball of doom (as I like to call it) was inspired by the giant head in the movie Prometheus as well as the game concept art for Scorn. I imagined the music for the album being a soundtrack to this immense construct coming through the clouds. Similar to a cut scene in a video game or the climax of a sci-fi movie.

Working with Hannes on this artwork was an honor, as I am a big fan of all of his musical endeavors. Check out the first single "The Sun Eaters" exclusively via Metal Injection.
