The great tree of vitality and life was a gift from the gods to the mortals of the physical realm. The lifeblood had the ability to sooth raging deserts, grow abundance where there was naught and even quench the oceans of it's thirst. Greed and avarice drove men to take what was granted to all and drank straight from the source of life. Little did they know the affliction that would be wrought upon them. Eternal existence drinking the essence of the gods as their bodies rotted, watching, as the seas ran dry and the deserts consumed the world.
