“A Universal Plague: Mutation” is a remake of the iconic 2011 release “A Universal Plague.” The artwork pays homage to the original with vibrant purples, pinks and reds. I brought over the planet from “A Universal Plague” and put the protagonist in a dark and turbulent landscape inspired by John Martin’s “Fallen Angels in Hell.” The abstract and vibrant color scheme helped capture the original composition while giving it new life in a classical art style. I greatly enjoyed the opportunity to reimagine and recreate the artwork for such an iconic technical death metal album.
