Artwork for melodic death metal outfit Archaic Decapitator's upcoming release "The Apothecary" out April 19th. The band wanted something that would depict healing at the expense of the healer. I took inspiration from the album title to show a 16th-17th century alchemist/surgeon performing surgery on a victim of a disease. I used warm tones to contrast the sickly cool tones of the patient and healer. While giving it an old masters feel inspired by the works of Thomas Eakins and Rembrandt.
