Painting for my friends in The Voynich Code for their newest single “The Last Grain” out now via Unique Leader Records. If you haven’t already I highly recommend checking out this very talented group of musicians.

The concept as described by the band: “For many of us, the weight of the past is only released when the last grain of the hourglass drops. It is in that moment that we understand that our whole existence is now just that: “the past”. By constantly looking back, we have wasted a lifetime, subjecting ourselves to needless suffering over something beyond our control. The past is the past, it’s gone. The moment is now, or never.”

The composition is inspired by baroque paintings of saints. I used the Verdaccio technique starting with a brownish underpainting and building up the layers from there.
