Sable Hills || Duality

Here is the album artwork for Japanese metalcore band Sable Hill’s upcoming album “Duality.” The concept comes from the album title and themes from the lyrics. The band wanted to depict the duality between opposing forces and how they are connected in their struggle. We also brought in themes from the lyrics which center around one’s own battle with external pressures and finding balance in life.

I was inspired by baroque era paintings such as Anton Van Dyck’s “Samson and Delilah” as well as Peter Paul Rubens dramatic depictions of fleshy figures in turbulence. That strong contrasting light and dark composition I felt was perfect in capturing the theme of duality.

Check out the first single “Bringer” off of the upcoming album on all major streaming platforms. Duality will be released June 3rd.
